Abstract
The Ruzaevka Republic
The “Ruzaev Republic,” which came into being in December 1905, was not a mere seizure of power. It was a rather bright attempt to organize the life of a railway station and small provincial town in conditions of political, social and economic instability that some called the First Russian revolution and others, chaos and anarchy. The analysis of the events of the period under study allows us to follow precisely how the functions of the administrative committee evolved from strike management and order keeping at the station to the organization of life at the station and in town.
