Abstracts

The historian and the document. – This article examines some problems related to the opening of archival sources pertaining to Soviet history. It deals mainly with the misuse of archives by historians: falsification of documents, distortion of their contents. It then raises the question of the degree of preservation of documents, their partial destruction in the past, and the completeness of the collections’ informational contents. It concludes with the prospects of research based on the archives.
